The Peninsula Express: An Enchanting Festive Voyage at The Peninsula Hong Kong

18/11/2022
The festive season is the most magical time of year at The Peninsula Hong Kong, when the legendary “Grande Dame of the Far East” transforms into a marvellous winter wonderland.

This year, the hotel takes special holiday inspiration from the golden age of railway travel by inviting guests on an enchanting voyage aboard The Peninsula Express. Nearly 100 years ago, The Peninsula Hong Kong first opened its doors to visitors during the Christmas season of 1928 – many of whom arrived via Salisbury Road after long train journeys. Now, the hotel honours that heritage, and the excitement of holiday travel, by recreating itself as a bustling vintage train station. Here, guests will be transported back to the grand era of steam locomotives and railway adventures – and embark on a delightful itinerary of sumptuous meals, family activities, and festive events.

An Epicurean Railway Journey through the Past and Present
This season, the beloved train set and miniature Alpine village set up outside The Verandah restaurant will come to dazzling life with the installation of a full-sized train platform, Grand Salisbury Station, on the hotel’s first floor. Guests can board an exquisite Peninsula Express train carriage, with its exterior painted in signature Peninsula Green and its elegant wood-panelled interior; and embark on an exclusive culinary journey in an Alpine setting.

The Peninsula Express will welcome diners from 25 November 2022 to 3 January 2023. The Verandah lunch buffet with dining inside the carriage is priced at HK$ 688* per person Monday to Thursday, and HK$ 1,028* per person Friday to Sunday; dinner buffet with carriage dining is priced at HK$ 1,028 per person Monday to Sunday. A Festive Railway-themed Musical Extravaganza

Guests continue their holiday journey with a sumptuous feast featuring festive delights from the Alpine Swiss chalet Chesa, The Verandah, Michelin-starred Spring Moon Cantonese restaurant, and authentic Japanese restaurant Imasa, specially curated by the hotel’s acclaimed culinary team.
